2011 Gene Schoenfelder Award Recipient - Jeff Boyd

At the 2011 Oktoberfest, the 2011 Gene Schoenfelder Volunteer of the Year Award was announced. The award was given to Jeff Boyd for his many contributions over the years to CCC. Specifically, last summer Jeff built the incredibly sturdy benches that surround the pool deck and that are used for Clerk of Course during home CCC swim meets. The award was created to recognize those members who went above and beyond in a given season.  The award was created to honor the contributions of long-time president and the visionary figure who was the driving force of many of the CCC pool features you enjoy today, Gene Schoenfelder. See the Volunteers tab for names and pictures of all of the recipients of this award.

First Annual Doggie Swim at CCC Was a Success!

CCC has gone to the dogs....well, it literally did......but only for a short period of time on Labor Day! After the pool was officially closed for the season on Labor Day, the pool was opened up to dogs (and their owners, if desired) to take a dip in the water. This was a fundraiser for CCC and it was quite successful. Some of the dogs were wild about getting in the pool while others seemed to only like the social aspect of hanging out with their fellow canine friends! Check back here later for some pictures of the event!

Camelot Knights Swim and Dive Teams End-of-Year Results

Camelot Knights Swim Teams: Congratulations to the Camelot Swim Team for being the 2011 Division 12 Co-Champions! Way to go, Knights!  This year, the Knights Swim Team had 10 swimmers qualify for the All Star Meet, with a total of 14 swims plus an alternate!  CCC Knights historians will have to go back a few decades in the record books to find a year when Camelot had this many swimmers at All Stars!  It's quite an accomplishment for our team.

All Stars Results are as follows:

• Will Fletcher finished 3rd in the Boys 8 & under 25 fly and 17th in the Boys 8 & under 25 back

• Riley Fletcher finished 3rd in the Boys 9-10 25 fly and 4th in the Boys 10 & under 100 IM. In the IM, he also broke his own team record with a time of 1.25.25!

• Leo Goldblatt finished 8th in the Boys 9-10 25 fly and 9th in the Boys 9-10 50 back.

• Olivia Rogers finished 14th in the Girls 11-12 50 breast.

• Allison Goldblatt finished 4th in the Girls 11-12 50 free and 5th in the Girls 11-12 50 fly.

• Haley Mclean finished 12th in the Girls 13-14 50 free and 17th in the Girls 13-14 100 IM.

• Eric Schwartz finished 13th in the Boys 13-14 50 breast.

• Julia Schwartz finished 11th in the Girls 13-14 100 IM.

• Laura Schwartz finished 1st (in a tie!) in the Girls 15-18 50 free and 1st in the Girls 15-18 100 IM. In both races, she broke her own team records, with times of 27.84 and 1.06.38, respectively!

• Kyle Major was the 2nd alternate for both the Boys 11-12 50 fly and Boys 11-12 50 back events, but unfortunately there were no scratches in those races, so he wasn't called upon to swim.

The Camelot Knights also won 1st place at the IM Carnival (for the 3rd year in a row)!  Another highlight of the season was the boys 9-10 medley relay, which participated in the All Star Relay meet this afternoon at Hayfield Farm.  The team of Leo Goldblatt, Riley Fletcher, Dylan Major and Jacob Butler was seeded 18th but turned in a blistering swim, dropped over two seconds and finished 12th!  Way to go, boys!  Team records for this year were also broken by Riley Fletcher, Caleb Meindertsma and Laura Schwartz.

The Camelot Squires also held the Lollipop Meet on Friday, July 22.  A big thanks to Amy LaPierre for organizing this fantastic event.

A huge thank you to the dynamic duo of Tina Ellerbee Goldblatt and Alan Goldblatt for their years of service as our Swim Team A and B reps.  They are stepping down after this season for a well-deserved break.  If you have interest in becoming a rep for next summer, please let a Board member know.

Camelot Knights Dive Team
